Guide on Disaster Prevention in Foreign Languages

There are now about 8,000 foreigners from 97 countries registered in Hachioji City. In case an earthquake occurs, foreigners who are not accustomed to Japanese and Japanese custom would be faced with various problems; they may not be able to act properly and/or have difficulty in receiving public support.

Therefore, in Hachioji City Life Security Division and Resident Activities Promotion Division in charge of “Disaster Prevention” and “Globalization” respectively have made Guide on Disaster Prevention in Foreign Languages in association with Hachioji International Exchange Group Associtation , supporting foreigners in Hachioji, to inform foreigners about the basic knowledge about earthquake and the provision at ordinary times.

Each foreign language version can be viewed the following links, and the prints are obtainable in Hachioji City Office and Hachioji International Exchange Corner.

Contents
Basic knowledge about earthquake, evacuation areas, emergency supplies to carry out when a disaster occurs, etc.

Features
There are six-language versions made according to the top six languages with larger number of foreigners registered in Hachioji.
Each version consists of both Japanese and a foreign language so that Japanese people can also read it.
